Acid Rain Study: Field Form This is the data form for the optional Acid Rain Study protocol that is conducted in conjunction with BFL. There is no on-line data entry for this protocol. Acid Rain Study: Prey Field Guide This mini-field guide, with pictures and descriptions, will help you identify critters while conducting the Acid Rain Study. Print it out and take it along in the field. 4. Guide to Highest-priority Study Species This sheet lists BFL's highest priority study species by region and forest type, and provides tips for studying these birds. You should use this as a guide when selecting your species. 5. Percent Cover Field SheetThis reference sheet contains figures that you will need to calculate the percentage of canopy cover under the Study Site Characteristics section of the Field Form. You should take this sheet in the field with you. Go here for more details. 6. Quick-reference Sheet for the Field A quick guide listing the Visit protocol in outline form as well as survey recommendations and tips, all contained on one page. Print this out and take it into the field with you. 7. BFL Grid Overlay This transparent grid can be used to measure your percentage of forest (link) if you are using a 1:24,000- or 1:25,000-scale map or aerial photograph (7.5 minute). See Landscape level characteristics and Appendix B. You will be sent the grid overlay through the mail. This is an introductory letter to landowners to aid participants in gaining access to private lands. This section will help you locate topographic maps both in stores and on the web. It also gives tips for calculating your latitude and longitude by hand if you are not entering your data on-line.
